St. George parish celebrated Vidovdan on Sunday, June 24th
On the Lord’s day, June 24th, 2018, St. George parishioners celebrated Vidovdan. The celebration started with Matins and Divine Liturgy with the participation of parishioners and guests.
Following the Liturgy, a banquet and the program took place in the hall.
Guest speaker was Dr. Vojin Joksimovich who spoke on today’s situation in Kosovo and Metohija.
The parish honored high school and college graduates by giving each an icon of Jesus Christ.
St. George parish also awarded two scholarships to the winning applicant, Lazar Katanic, the Prof. Srbich ($1,000) and Milojko Mike Vucelic ($40,000 over the next four years) scholarships.
The $40,000 Milojko Mike Vucelic Scholarship was established to advance the dream of Milojko ‘Mike’ Vucelic and his wife, Dr. Inge, in supporting a high school senior or college student of Serbian descent with four consecutive annual scholarships in pursing his or her engineering career. Throughout his life, Milojko believed and supported education, creativity, fortitude and self-discipline in achieving life’s goals. He equally supported his Serbian heritage and the Serbian Orthodox Church. His wife Dr. Inge unequivocally supported her husband, Milojko, and after his falling asleep in the Lord on September 12, 2012, she continues to carry out their life’s dream of being ambassadors of education among Serbian people.
Nikola Vucelic, who flew in from New York, a grandson of +Milojko Mike and Dr. Inge Vucelic greeted everyone and together with his grandmother, Dr. Inge, gave the scholarship to Lazar Katanic.
On behalf of Professor Srbich family, Miro Copic awarded the Prof. Srbich scholarship to Lazar Katanic.
We express our thanks to the Srbich, Vucelic families and all the participants and guests.
