Please, help! We need stem cell match to save Zora’s life

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

We are calling on the members of our Serbian Orthodox & San Diego community to help one of our own, Zora Vunduk Ficzko, who is in desperate need of a stem cell match to save her life. Please join us at one of our Stem Cell Donation Events listed above!!

Zora lives in San Diego, CA with her husband and two young boys, ages 8 & 10. In January 2021, she was diagnosed with Leukemia (AML – Acute myeloblastic leukemia). Within two days, she began very aggressive chemotherapy treatment that kept her in the hospital for 30 days, away from her entire family.  This put her in remission for a short amount of time, but sadly it is back.

This is where we need YOUR help to save Zora’s life! The doctors have stated that she will need a stem cell transplant in order for her to survive this. The worldwide donor data base has turned up with no viable matches for her, so it’s up to all of us to find her one!   The ideal candidates are those who share her same ancestral descent {Serbian/Eastern European} age 18-55, and in overall good health. But we are asking EVERYONE who is able, to please get tested for a match!

We have partnered up with DKMS.org to assist us in finding a donor match for Zora. Time is of the essence, IF YOU CAN’T ATTEND ONE OF OUR LISTED EVENTS, we ask you to PLEASE register today for our Virtual Drive. A kit will be delivered to your house and we simply ask that you swab & return it to see if you are a match! Here is how you register:

With your help, and through God’s will, we WILL find the perfect match for Zora.
