Christos Yannaras to Speak at Saint Katherine College
Plan to join us on Monday. November 5th (7:30 pm) for a Forum Lecture entitled, “Does Science Today Make Philosophy Superfluous?” presented
by Christos Yannaras.
Yannaras is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, Athens. He
studied Theology at the University of Athens and Philosophy at the Universities of Bonn (Germany) and Paris (France). He is a Ph.D of the Faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece); he is also a Ph.D at the Faculté des Lettres et Sciences Humaines of the University of Sorbonne (Paris).
He has been honored with the Doctor of Philosophy, honoris causa, by the University of Belgrade, St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology; and, Visiting Professor at the Universities of Paris (the Catholic Faculty), Geneva, Lausanne and Crete. His study and research focus on the differences between Greek and Western European philosophy and tradition, particularly as these differences define a mode (praxis) of
life. A contemporary Greek philosopher, he has authored over 50 books which have been translated into many languages.
