Христос Воскресе! Christ is Risen!
Dear Camp St. Sava families, friends and supporters,
For months we have been carefully following and evaluating the evolving COVID- 19 pandemic. This past week, the Camp St. Sava committee reached the decision to cancel this year’s summer camp. We arrived at this conclusion after ongoing conversations with local and state medical authorities and other experts, as well as consultations with our fellow Orthodox camps in the state of California.
Health officials in Amador County specifically told our administration that we would not be permitted to hold camp this year. We are aware this decision brings great disappointment; we know that nothing can replace the sense of being together at the camp. Our leaders and staff are working to develop other activities, perhaps online, that will provide opportunity for interaction, education, and fellowship. Details on these initiatives will be forthcoming very soon.
We continue to pray to our Lord that He may grant healing to our wounded world and that one day soon we may join together again in worship and fellowship praising His Resurrection!
With love in the Risen Christ,
Bishop of Los Angeles and Western America
